7. PowerPoint 2010.
We have the latest version of PowerPoint on beta test so we can get used to it: and our opinion is.....
It’s a small step forward from PowerPoint 2007, the changes mostly concentrating on web publishing and collaboration tools. It seems to handle videos better (well, it could hardly be any worse than previous PPT versions!) but, inevitably, it demands rather more of the processor, the RAM and particularly the graphics card.
If you’re still on PPT 2003, it’s well worthwhile downloading this from Microsoft: it’s a ‘compatibility pack’ for Office 2003 so it can open files created in Office 2007 and 2010. Some of the editing functions are disabled, but at least you can show the presentation!
Bitter experience has taught us that opening a 2003 format presentation in 2007/10 can do some very strange things to the formatting which usually only appear when saving. To be sure it’s ok, open it again and look closely. Embedded fonts seem to suffer especially. It’s all to do with a change in the way 2007/10 handles the slide masters.

07: If you open a presentation in 2007 and bit of text keep moving around, changing size and so on, try this:
In slide sorter, right click the offending slide and select [layout/blank]. You’ll still need to put things back how they should be, but now it should all stay put!
